Each month since January I have been telling you about unique way the Causeway Family of Dealerships in Manahawkin has been celebrating their 50th anniversary and if ever something fell into the category of “it is better to give than receive" well this is it.

The family owned and operated auto dealership is wrapping up a “50 Golden Acts of Good” campaign that was designed to help their neighbors and make a positive impact in Ocean County and it surely has.

Since January they have awarded a $10,000 grant each month to a local non-profit and November’s final monthly recipient is Family Promise of Southern Ocean County, an interfaith hospitality network that provides temporary shelter, meals, hospitality and case management for children and families dealing with homelessness.

The organization was established in 2009 and it did not take long for the demand of the local community to exceed their capacity to serve all of those seeking assistance.  Fortunately with help and support Family Promise of Southern Ocean County has grown to where they now have 21 host congregations and more than 200 volunteers to assist with everything from meals and childcare to financial guidance.

Just this past spring they moved into a new Day Center in West Creek where they are better able to meet the needs of the rapidly growing homeless population.  The facility serves as a home base during the day for families and while they focus on the southern part of the county they take overflow families from other areas.

Family Promise believes strongly that every family should have a home, a secure place where children can be raised in dignity so they can thrive in life.  For information on how you can help this wonderful organization call (609) 994-3317 or visit  https://fpsocstaff.wixsite.com/familypromisesoc.

The Wintrode Family and the Causeway Family of Dealerships have generously donated $110,000 this year to eleven truly awesome non-profits that serve our community and in December will culminate the campaign with the awarding of a new Ford Transit Connect Van.

For them giving thanks is not a once a year thing but something they believe 24/7.
