TOMS RIVER – A severe accident involving a motorcycle in Toms River left a man in critical condition, according to Toms River Police.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and Gary Road at 11:28 am on Saturday for a severe motorcycle accident.

Dawson Palmarini, 17, of Toms River began passing heavy summer traffic in his 2013 Honda CBR motorcycle when Brian Bucci, 22, of New York who was driving a 2006 Acura TL was trying to make a right turn from Route 37 onto Gary Road.

Palmarini’s struck Bucci and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was unconscious, and rescue breathing was performed on the scene.

A medivac helicopter landed on Route 37 and transported Palmarini to the Jersey Shore Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
Palmarini was charged with Reckless Driving and Improper Passing.

Although not at fault, Bucci was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License and being involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and was charged criminally and released on a summons.

The accident is being investigated by Toms River Police Traffic Safety Officer Adam Koeppen.
