Take A Look This Fall at the Beautiful Lighthouses of the Jersey Shore!
Just In Time For Fall
This fall, maybe take time to take a look and visit the beautiful lighthouses of the Jersey Shore. Take a look at my photo collection and see what lighthouses you might like to visit and possibly climb.
The Lighthouses of the Jersey Shore
It is the oldest operating lighthouse in America; it’s 257 years old. The Sandy Hook Lighthouse, designed by Isaac Conro, was built in 1764.

The Sandy Hook Lighthouse has been lit for nearly 300 years except for being darkened during times of war.....Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II. Sandy Hook Lighthouse is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area in Highlands, Monmouth County.
We visited the park, and it's full of intriguing historical artifacts and a great place to mix history with exercise, as you can get a great walk in. Take in some of the sights of Fort Hancock while visiting the Lighthouse.
Sandy Hook Lighthouse stands about 103 feet and at the time we visited, we were able to climb to the top. Check with the park now for visitation hours and policies.
I put together a photo gallery below for you to check out many of the great lighthouses of the Jersey Shore. I have visited and photographed each one of these, and each is unique in its own way.
So scroll below and see many of the beautiful lighthouses right here in the Garden State.
