If you're thinking about starting a family, you may be wondering if the Garden State is a good place to do it.

If you wondered that, then you are certainly not alone. As a matter of fact, WalletHub did some research to determine which states are the best and the worst for having babies and New Jersey is, well, neither.

We seem to always be right at the top or right at the bottom of these lists but this time we find ourselves closer to the middle. Actually, it's a little better than that. We rank #17 in the nation.

The best state to have a baby, according to this research, is Vermont. New Jersey ranks higher than both New York (18) and Pennsylvania (23). The worst state to have a baby in is Mississippi.

The results were determined by examining four 'key dimensions'...cost, healthcare, baby friendliness and family friendliness.

This is one of those rankings that we really wish we landed a little higher in, but at least we're in the top 40% of the nation, so it could have been worse.
