Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Brick Police Chief James Riccio issued a joint statement Wednesday announcing that Michael Stallworth, 37, of Seaside Heights, is being charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

He remains on the run though but the man who helped him avoid apprehension has been caught.

That man has been identified as 32-year old Kareem Reeves of Lakewood who was later arrested is charged with Hindering for removing Stallworth's vehicle from the ShopRite parking lot after the stabbing to try and hinder the suspect's arrest.

Reeves is now in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Stallworth remains a fugitive from Justice.

He is being asked to come forward to face the charges and you're being asked to call police with any information.

“Stallworth is encouraged to turn himself in; a warrant has been issued for his arrest and his name has been entered in the National Crime Information Center database. Anyone with information concerning Stallworth’s whereabouts – or any information at all regarding this investigation - is urged to contact Detective Lindsay Woodfield of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, extension 3989, or Detective Michael Bennett of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1122,” Prosecutor Billhimer said in a statement.

The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of his injuries, where he is reported to be in critical but stable condition, after Brick Police found the 44-year old on Monday around 4:00 pm with stab wounds in his back.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Brick Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit led to Stallworth being identified as the man who stabbed the 44-year old victim.
