Toys R Us Has Officially Opened in Ocean County, NJ and We’re Excited
We never wanted to grow up, and I think in many ways we are all still "Toys R Us Kids."
That's what makes this Jersey Shore comeback story even sweeter.
For Jersey Shore kids, this was always a great sight to see.
When I was a youngster, my Uncle who lived up north would always surprise me on random days after school with a trip to Toys R Us and then a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup sundae right across the shopping plaza at Friendly's. Good memories.
We all have those memories.
That's why when we heard the news that Toys R Us had filed for bankruptcy in March of 2018 and would be closing all stores by the end of the year the inner child in us all shed a tear.
Earlier this year Toys R Us announced that they were going to be making a comeback with at least 400 "toy shops" set to open in Macy's stores in 2022.
Well, I guess Geoffrey couldn't wait, because a new Toys R Us is already open at Ocean County Mall.
When you walk into Macy's lower level you're welcomed by the smiling giraffe.
Behind him, there's is a mini toy shop.
I may or may not have purchased something in this picture. I'll let you guess.
They also had this really cool setup for the holiday season.
If the little ones are looking to get a letter to Saint Nick, this is the place to go.
The toys don't end on the lower level.
The real deal is on the upper level of Macy's.
Now that's what I'm talking about. OMG. Play-Doh!
It was so cool because I remembered that exciting feeling of being in Toys R Us again.
Just seeing kids going crazy grabbing four toys at a time and begging their parents brought me back.
There were dolls.
Nerf guns and accessories were in full supply.
It wouldn't be a toy shop without train sets.
Is this like stepping into the old Toys R Us? No.
But, there are plenty of toys for boys, girls, and adults who have never grown up. The selection was very good.
Remember, these toy shops aren't slated to be ready until 2022.
This may be a test launch and the best is yet to come.
All I know is that it was nice to be a "Toys R Us Kid" again.
