A Toms River man is placed in handcuffs and charged with vehicular homicide with Vehicular Homicide in violation of N.J.S.A.2C:11-5A for causing the death of a Lakewood woman on June 30, 2018, announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

Daniel Reed, 34, was driving his 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound on New Hampshire Boulevard on that day last year, and failed to maintain his lane of travel, and crossed over the centerline striking the vehicle head on that was operated by Jean Divona, 82, of Lakewood.

Divona who was operating a 2005 Toyota Camry, was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood where she succumbed to her injuries.

Reed was immediately transported to Community Medical Center for a blood test.

That blood test revealed that he was impaired by Fentanyl and Morphine at the time of the motor vehicle crash.

Reed was arrested this morning at his residence in Toms River by Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Toms River Police and remains in the Ocean County Jail.
