The new year means we wipe the slate clean and do something to help us improve ourselves in one way or another, and as you can imagine, most people's resolution this year is a similar and familiar theme. But how long will it last?

It doesn't take much overthinking to come up with the top New Year's Resolution in New Jersey, and probably everywhere else for that matter. The pandemic has been bad for many things, including just about everyone's waistline.

So, it's time to get back to eating well, exercising and dropping some of those quarantine pounds that plague us all. And a New Year's Resolution is a good way to kick start the new you, right?

Well, hypothetically the answer is yes. But before you get too excited about the whole thing, you should know at least one report says that if you want to succeed with your resolution this year you might have to, well...move.

It turns out that according to the study, we here in the Garden State are among the first in the nation to abandon our January dreams. As a matter of fact, New Year's resolutions don't even make it out of January in New Jersey.

The website is Very Well Fit, and they say, while we're not the first state to give up on our resolutions, we're way closer to the first state than the last one. To be more specific, we give up on our resolutions by January 16th.

That's barely enough time to get hungry, right? Well that is fast, but not as fast as Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts, which bow out of the game by January 9th. Maybe I'll move to one of those states and save myself a week of trouble.

If it makes you feel any better, Tennessee is the state where the resolutions last the longest, and even there they only last until February 20th.

Here's how I look at it. This is New Jersey. We eat fast, we talk fast, we drive fast, and now we resolution fast. It's just who we are.
