Is This The Most Frustrating Infuriating Road In All Of Monmouth County?
In Monmouth and Ocean Counties we have all had our moments when the driving stress gets so bad that the stress steam races through your body at a dizzying pace and the only way it can be released is through your middle finger. And some spots are just so bad they rise to the top of this dreaded list.

So which road got to me this weekend in a way that no other does? Which stretch of roadway is the one that gets me every single time I'm on it. The road that supplies frustration and angst 100% of the time?
Forget the Parkway for a minute. Let's leave Route 35 aside for just a minute. Can we ignore Route 9 in, well, any town, for the time being. And can we talk about Route 33?
Here are the reasons I think Route 33 in Monmouth County is the most infuriating road in all of the land.
First of all, it looks like it should be a quick moving, time saving stretch of road, but it just isn't. It literally takes one bad driver, one lost person or one distraction to turn your ride from the 33/34 split near Colts Neck to the Freehold Raceway Mall exit literally hell on wheels.
Secondly, Route 33 is a magnet for people who are totally content to grab the steering wheel with both hands like it's a life ring after the Titanic hit the iceberg and cruise along at 38 mph. Does anyone want to get where they're going? Yes, and they're on 195.
!00% Efficiency. I drive Route 33 a lot and I literally can't remember the last time I got on this road and didn't find myself as the third car in a snake of cars that are idling along behind someone sightseeing or looking for their turn or just unaware of the correct speed limit.
33 Highway doesn't get to two lanes fast enough. You hit the 33 Business/Highway split and you foolishly feel like you are home free, but you only get teased with a single lane and exit ramps for way too long.
And please don't tell me to be patient. I do try but I usually run out a half mile past the Hungry Puppy because I know what I'm in for. I'm going to do my best to find the zen to make this work, but I feel like a rare lucky Route 33 break from other drivers is way past due.
