Clearly the vaccination process against COVID-19 is not going as quickly and smoothly as we hoped and I’m not pointing fingers but anything that involves our government these days does not inspire great confidence.

It’s obviously a massive program made even more challenging by state mandates to give the shots to certain groups before others.  The logic makes sense but the fact is it slows the entire process down at a time when you want it to move at warped speed.

While the vaccine hopefully provides a weapon against the virus it also provides hope for better days ahead and that is especially important now.  I don’t know about you but I have spoken with several people in recent days who agree that we know more people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last few weeks then in the previous 8 or 9 months.

Obviously the holidays are largely to blame along with other indoor gatherings and don’t discount the amount of “COVID Burnout” that exists as many ignore the safety protocols that have been preached constantly including social distancing, regular hand washing and of course wearing masks.  I think we all suffer a bit of that at times.

The fact is we are ten months into this pandemic and it’s hard to find much light at the end of the tunnel.  Yes right here in Ocean and Monmouth Counties people are getting vaccines every day and that’s a good thing but at the same time the number of positive tests has been growing with nearly 600 reported on Tuesday in the two counties.

Meanwhile if you have been following the news then you know that Southern California is the hot spot in the country with hospitals completely overrun and out of beds.

On one side you have a slow-moving vaccination process loaded with red tape and blame and on the other you have a virus that is not going away anytime soon.

I’m like most of you hoping to get the vaccine before I get COVID-19.  All we can do is hope and pray.
