The longest running all-star football game in New Jersey will be played for the 41st time tonight and while it has a new name it is the same game that debuted in 1978.

The Shore Sports Network All-Shore Gridiron Classic, powered by InVision Eyecare features recently-graduated seniors from Ocean County against their rivals from the north in Monmouth County.  It will take place at Brick Memorial High School with kickoff at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 and tickets are $10.00.

As you might know the Shore Sports Network is a division I head up at Townsquare Media and we are excited to partner with the Shore Football Coaches Foundation on high school football’s version of the mid-summer classic.  Both teams have been practicing since last Saturday at the home fields of the two head coaches, Central Regional’s Justin Fumando and Dan George of Long Branch, who will be inducted into the coaches foundation Hall of Fame at halftime.

Also being honored posthumously will be the Boyd Brothers…former Central coach Joseph J. Boyd and Hugh J. Boyd, Jr. who was a highly-regarded football official and referee for the first several All-Shore Classic games.

Tonight’s game features a host of talented players, led by record-setting Freehold quarterback Ashante Worthy who local fans get to see one more time or maybe for the first time.  His Monmouth County team also includes the Howell duo of Eddie Morales and Naseim Brantley, TJ Fosque of Long Branch and RBC running back Zach Bair.

The Ocean County team has its share of weapons in quarterback James Fara of Point Boro and his Panther teammate Brandon Cipriano and running back Tony Thorpe of Brick Memorial while defensive tackle Willie Garner of Brick Memorial and Point Beach linebacker Luke Frauenheim of Point Beach will be counted on to try and stop Worthy and company.

Tonight’s game will be broadcast live on 105.7FM and you can listen and watch it on shoresportsnetwork.com which is where you can find complete game information including stories, rosters and more.
