New Jersey American Water is temporarily changing the water treatment process from a chloramine residual to free chlorine residual at the Swimming River Water Treatment Plant in Colts Neck and Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune.

The temporary treatment process will begin the week of November 7, 2017 and continue until April 2018. Some customers might notice a slight taste and smell of chlorine in their water which is normal and is only temporary until the system maintenance is complete. Customers that wish to reduce the taste can place water in an uncovered glass container in the refrigerator overnight.
