Take A Trip On NJ’s Historic Cranberry Trail

If you're looking for something to do this fall, the Whitesbog Preservation Trust, Double Trouble State Park and Cloverdale Farm County Park have teamed up to form a Historic Cranberry Trail through the Pine Barrens!

October is Cranberry Month, so this is the perfect time to enjoy New Jersey's cranberry harvest. The Ocean County Parks and Recreation Department created this cute map that shows you four locations for cranberries, along with ten great local eateries, four additional parks and historic sites, two local farm markets, and two extra family-friendly attractions.

Many of the locations on the trail feature cranberry related products, including restaurants with seasonal cranberry recipes, markets with cranberry wines, baked goods, jams and jellies.

Each of the historic sites provide walking trails and opportunities to learn about the harvest of cranberries in the Garden State.

If you were to start in Toms River, the round trip from there to each of the four main locations on the trail would leave you with about an hour and a half of drive time to travel 70ish miles. If you were so inclined, you could definitely make a full day of it, and hit each spot on the Trail. Even if you don't want to make that big of a trip, the furthest spot is only about forty minutes from Toms River.
