Christine Girtain, who is a teacher and the Authentic Science Research director at Toms River High Schools North and South, was named the 2022-23 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year on Wednesday by the New Jersey Department of Education.

The Toms River Education Foundation, a non-profit started up by Councilman Terrance Turnbach in Toms River, is donating $10,000 to the Toms River Regional School District to help them purchase team uniforms at each of the three high schools.
