If a child experiences a traumatic event that requires a police response, such as the arrest of a family member or a domestic violence incident, that child's school may have no idea that anything ever happened.

Uncertainty surrounding the public health crisis, as well as heightened attention to social injustice, may be connected to an extraordinary increase in the number of New Jersey residents seeking approval to own a firearm.

"We are trying to reduce the interactions that police officers have with citizens, so we want to make sure that it's a violation that warrants calling us," he said.
