David M. Stead, 42, was indicted this week by a grand jury in Mount Holly, according to the office of Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi. Stead remains in the Burlington County Jail, awaiting arraignment. His bail remains a full l$1,000,000.

Stead is charged with first-degree counts of murder and robbery, two second-degree weapons charges and a third-degree theft count.

Thomas Wright II, 49, operated Artisan Building Creations from his home. His family grew concerned after he failed to appear for work. His remains were found by his father on July 1, the same day that investigators placed the shooting.

According to investigators, Stead planned to rob Wright. Once inside the dwelling, he allegedly short Wright in the head and neck, took a small amount of money, and escaped in Wright's rented pickup truck.

The truck was found on Colemans Bridge Road, less than a mile from Stead's residence on Pemberton-Browns Mills Road, authorities said.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
