We here in Ocean County got a bit of a break Monday and were spared another late winter/early spring snow fall which impacted most of those north of us with up to 7 inches or so falling in parts of New Jersey.

The good news even for them is that most of the snow had melted by the end of the day.  However a day after temperatures were in the 60s this was just the latest example of our growing frustration with not being able to put together any real streak of nice days.

I’m among the growing number who is suffering from “spring fever” or maybe in this case I should call it “lack of spring fever.”  For the most part we are about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year and the extended forecast for the next week or two does not show a lot of sunshine.

Our Dan Zarrow and other meteorologists continue to talk about this rather dismal weather pattern we have been in and hopefully it breaks sooner than later.

Schools are on spring break this week although many have altered that break because of the snow days used this winter.  However the majority are closed and unless families went away on vacation that means trying to fill days with activities for children. Not an easy task when the weather refuses to cooperate.

You also have high school athletes who figured to stay busy with baseball, lacrosse, softball and other spring sports but those seasons are off to rather slow starts because of, you guessed it, the weather which has forced a number of postponements with more on the horizon.

The Yankees home opener was snowed out Monday and rescheduled for this afternoon but rain could force another postponement.  That could mean Wednesday’s series finale with Tampa Bay is the home opener. But while temperatures will be in the 60s there is an 80% chance of thunderstorms in the Bronx.

Bottom line is that our frustration is growing…we want to get outside and start doing things but Mother Nature is standing in our way and as we all know you can’t beat her or Father Time.  What a dynamic duo.
