SNL Debuted this Day 1975 with Carlin as Host

It still runs today, some 43 years later. Saturday Night Live premiered this very day in 1975 on NBC. Prior to this, Johnny Carson reruns ran  in the time slot, but when Carson requested an end to that, NBC developed a new, live variety series. Click below to see what that very first SNL looked like.
