Rock & Roll Hall of Famer SAM COOKE was born this day in 1931. In his short live span, he scored big hits such as "You Send Me," "Wonderful World," "Bring It on Home to Me," "Cupid," "Chain Gang," "Shake," "A Change Is Gonna Come," "Nothing Can Change My Love," "Good News," "Good Times," and "Twistin' the Night Away." Enjoy a truly live performance of the latter by clicking below. Sam wrote many of his own songs, and also owned two record labels - SAR and DERBY. He started as a gospel singer with the Soul Stirrers, but opted to record more secular music (and we're so glad he did). He would've been 87 today.
