The victim who is affiliated with the university, campus police said, told them that the suspect walked up to him, showed a folding knife and demanded he hand over personal property.

When the suspect spotted police in the area, he took off on foot heading towards Hamilton Street.

The victim was not physically injured and nothing was taken during the encounter.

While the investigation continues and search for the suspect, a description is limited right now, campus police said.

However, Rutgers University Police Department Chief Kenneth Cop is asking that if you have any information or if you were in that area earlier this morning, to contact their detective bureau at 732-932-7211.
