A heads up for drivers in Monmouth County, Route 79 is closed to traffic between Tennent Road and Route 520 after a construction crew doing road repairs struck a high pressure gas line around 11:00 pm last night near Church Lane.

There were no injuries but you're being asked to find alternate routes while repairs are made.

New Jersey Natural Gas is on location assessing the repairs needed to be made.

The State Department of Transportation is also there assisting with the road closure.

Marlboro Police say the roadway is expected to be closed throughout the day today.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area and plan an alternate route while the emergency repairs are being made.

One family that lives in the area was evacuated last night as a precaution.

No further information is available at this time.
