Roadblocks settle into place on the highway at Route 35 on one end, and at Neptune Boulevard on the other. The detour takes drivers in either direction along Heck Avenue.

Neptune police this morning issued notice that the closure would last 24 hours, until 9 PM Saturday. This conflicts with earlier information from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, indicating that the closure would last until 5 AM Monday.

The project is part of the North Taylor Avenue, Washington Avenue and Union Avenue sanitary improvements project involving Neptune Township and Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Also, if you plan to drive Route 35 in the vicinity, be extra certain to drive sober and buckle up. Monmouth County's DWI Task Force conducts random checks near the Asbury Circle in Ocean Township, starting tonight at 10.
