If spray-painting an improvised left-turn lane onto a Waretown street is a joke of some kind, police aren't laughing. They might have charges waiting for whoever wielded the spray can.

Officers responding to a criminal-mischief report on the night of September 4 discovered the white line crudely drawn on Hornblower Drive, leading to Hawkins Way.

Based on witness accounts that it hadn't been seen beofre 10 AM, investigators surmise that it was done between 10 and 11:45 AM.

Despite the possible traffic safety hazard, police did not report any collisions, slowdowns or jam-ups.

Anyone knowing of the incident is urged to call the Ocean Township Criminal Investigations Division, 609-693-4007.
