A Plumsted man has been arrested after allegedly discharging a weapon near his home on Sunday, announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

It was just after 12:00 p.m. today that Plumsted Township Police Department requested the assistance of the Ocean County Regional SWAT team after a man fired the weapon.

The Ocean County Regional SWAT team then found the subject, Nicholas Markee, in a wooded area adjacent to the home.

Markee was taken into custody without incident.

There is no danger to the public at this time.

Criminal charges are pending against Markee.

It's not yet known why Markee fired the weapon or if that weapon was legal.
