Pedestrian struck by Ocean County Sheriff’s Officer in Lakewood
An Ocean County Sheriff's officer reportedly struck a teen walking on New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood Wednesday afternoon while responding to a non-emergency call, according to multiple reports.
The girl was transported to to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with serious injuries, according to The Lakewood Scoop.
44-year-old Sheriff's Officer Juan Mercado of Jackson was taken to Ocean Medical Center as a precaution, according to the Asbury Park Press.
New Hampshire Avenue was closed between Locust Street and Route 70 during the investigation, which is being handled by The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey State Police.
