If you saw a flurry of police cars at Donovan Catholic High School or any other Ocean County high school Tuesday, there's no need to be alarmed.

The Ocean County Prosecutors Office was conducting an unannounced sweep of the grounds at Donovan Catholic looking for drugs.

It's not known if anything was found in the sweep that took a little more than an hour.

A sweep was done at every Ocean County high school Tuesday as part of the OCPO's partnership with police K-9 units to "Sniff Out" a Drug Free School Zone.

"As pointed out in the past we do not discuss our finds with media or public," Al Della Fave, spokesman for the OCPO said. "When something is found we advise the school officials and parents so that they will be aware of an issue and can take immediate corrective action."

He added that they, "don't want this to become a "what is the worse High School Thing", Della Fave continued. "It is being done to assure a Drug Free School Zone and a safe learning environment for OC students."

Here are the K9 Drug Detectors and handlers who participated in the continuing operation:

  • Toms River Township Police Patrolman Rich Buhowski - K9 Gunnar
  • Toms River Township Police Patrolman Kyle Martucci - K9 Cyrus
  • Ocean County SO Ted Wielichoski - K-9 Sheba
