TRENTON — A Mercer County judge has ruled that NJ Weedman should remain in custody to protect the safety of an informant involved in the marijuana advocate's latest arrest.

NJ.com reports that Superior Court Judge Peter Warshaw ordered Ed Forchion held Tuesday in connection with a witness tampering case against the restaurateur.

The charges against Forchion stem from a raid narcotics officers executed at his Trenton eatery, NJ Weedman's Joint. Forchion streamed his arrest last Friday live on Facebook and has denied the charges.

Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Stephanie Katz argued that Forchion was putting the informant at risk by spreading his name on social media. But Forchion stated that he never intended to intimidate the informant.

Warshaw said he believes Forchion would continue if he had access to the internet.

Forchion also is facing separate charges after he called a Trenton police officer a pedophile in a video posted online. A grand jury indicted him on cyber-bullying charges. Civil liberties advocates say the law is unconstitutional.
