When it comes to a charming small town around the holidays, one publication thinks New Jersey has one of the top 50 in the United States.

Recently, espresso listed their top 50 most charming small towns for the holidays in the nation, and for Garden state an it's residents, there is good news and there is bad news. We made the list, and we didn't make the list. Let me explain.

The good news is that New Jersey was represented, with Cape May coming in at #33 of the top 50. The bad news is that no Monmouth or Ocean County town made the list, and that is a shame.

Where is Spring Lake, or Point Pleasant? What about Avon or Manasquan? How about Red Bank or Freehold? Asbury Park anyone? And what about your town, right? You could make a case for all of these towns and a dozen others in Monmouth & Ocean Counties.

Nothing against Cape May, of course. Diane and I love it, and Christmas season is pretty magical there.  But the Garden State holiday magic certainly there.

I guess we'll just have to let Cape May get the headlines on this one. We'll just call the rest of the amazing Christmas small towns in Monmouth & Ocean Counties our own little holiday season secret.
