New Jersey Senator Polistina Wants To Increase School Security

We were first to report that Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson is bringing School Superintendents together to address the issue of having armed police officers and K-9 dogs in Atlantic County Public Schools.

Levinson’s meeting will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at the Atlantic County Criminal
Court Complex, 4997 Unami Boulevard, Mays Landing,
New Jersey.

InsiderNJ.com had the scoop on New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina introducing legislation to increase law enforcement presence in schools.

Polistina’s bill “would allow County Sheriffs to hire and place Class Ill officers in schools to assist with security.
As our children prepare to return to the classroom, parents shouldn't be losing sleep with concerns about the safety of their children,” said Polistina.

"Many New Jersey towns do not have local police departments that can place an officer within their schools. Under this legislation, a County Sheriff could hire a retired police officer to work within the schools, during the class day and events, to ensure the highest quality of safety and security,” said Polistina.

In keeping with Polistina’s collegial approach as a state legislator, he is pleased that his bill (S-3037 (https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/bill-search/2022/S3037)) has “bipartisan support and Senator Vin Gopal (D-11) has signed on as a sponsor.”

"I am proud Senator Gopal chose to join me as a co-sponsor of this important bill, and I encourage all 40 members of the Senate to do the same. When it comes to the safety and security of our schools and children, there is no room for partisanship,” said Polistina.

The ill-founded “defund the police” movement has lost total steam that it had deceptively gathered during the 2020 election cycle.

It proved to be dangerous and it has led to loss of life, bodily injury and extensive property damage throughout America.
