There are still plenty of parades to check out in Jersey this weekend, but the biggest one of all happens in New York City.

The New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade began in 1762 and is belived to be the oldest St. Pat's parade in the world. The parade is traditionally held on the 17th, but if the 17th falls on a Sunday (like this year) the festivities are moved a day earlier, to Saturday the 16th.

This year, the honor of being the band to lead off the parade goes to the Vernon Township Marching Band! The lead band is chosen based on which bands have participated in the parade the longest, and the Vernon Marching Band has marched in the parade for many years.

If you can't make it up to NYC, the parade starts at 10:45am on NBC and NBCNewYork.com and on the parade's YouTube channel.
