New Jersey man threatens to murder Amazon delivery driver in “racist neighborhood”

A Lacey Township man turned himself into police to face charges from a reported racially motivated incident that occurred with an Amazon delivery driver last month.

John Vincentini, 62, of Lacey Township, is being charged with Bias Intimidation and Terroristic Threats stemming from the September 5 incident, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

The Amazon driver called Lacey Police September 5 explaining to them what a man just allegedly threatened to do to him.

Lacey Police Detectives along with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Bias Crimes Unit investigated the report and Prosecutor Billhimer explained that they found out that Vincentini was driving in Lacey and followed the driver as he was making deliveries into an area cul-de-sac and then blocked the driver by parking his own vehicle in front of the truck.

Vincentini is then accused of confronting the Amazon delivery driver on why he was in the neighborhood and "as to whether the driver understood that it was a racist neighborhood."

He then allegedly threatened to shoot the driver in the head with a rifle that he had in his vehicle at the time by asking him "whether he wanted him to go back to his car, get his rifle, and shoot the driver in the head."

With an opportunity to leave the area, the Amazon driver did just that and called police.

The investigation tied Vincentini as the man from the incident and he turned himself in on Wednesday, was processed, and then released on a summons and will await an appearance in the Ocean County Superior Court.

“It is against the law to intimidate someone based upon their race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, disability, or gender identity/expression. Individuals that employ hatred, intolerance, and prejudice with a purpose to intimidate will be investigated and if warranted - prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Prosecutor Billhimer said in a written statement.
