New Jersey drug dealer heads to prison for causing overdose of Mansfield resident

A New Jersey drug dealer is on his way to prison for causing the fatal overdose of a Mansfield resident by lacing heroin with fentanyl, announced Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.

The Burlington County Medical Examiner officially determined that the death of the 23-year old in March of 2019, was caused by fentanyl toxicity.

Mansfield Police responded to a motel on Route 206 on March 22, 2019, on a report of an unresponsive man, who they saw suffering from the effects of a drug overdose.

The 23-year old was brought to Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly but passed away the next day.

Investigators later learned that the heroin laced with fentanyl was sold to the 23-year old by 39-year old Antonio Hunte of Willingboro, the day before the victim's death.

This past week, a grand jury indicted Hunte, on charges of Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death (First Degree), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree), and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute (Third Degree).

Prosecutor Coffina said that this case was presented to the grand jury by Burlington County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Angermeier, who is also the supervisor of the BCPO Gang, Gun, and Narcotics Task Force.
