A tragic three-car accident early Friday morning in Howell claimed the life of a man from Neptune Township, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.

What investigators have learned so far is that at around 12:04 am, a Jackson man driving a 2004 Ford F150 pickup was heading west on Route 33 near Colts Neck Road when he veered over the centerline and struck a 2004 Kia Rio and sideswiped the vehicle.

He continued westbound and then into the eastbound lanes where he struck a 2010 Dodge Challenger head-on.

The driver of the challenger, a man from Neptune Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said that the pickup overturned and the driver was ejected from the Ford F150.

All three drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

While the preliminary investigation has concluded, the crash remains under investigation as the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County SCART, and Howell Township Police Department look into what happened and why.
