Law Enforcement continues cracking down on gun use and weapons related offenses and their prior arrest of a Neptune City man has led to him pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced the guilty plea to the indictment charge on Thursday of 27-year old Jakim Stradford who now faces up to a decade in prison along with having to pay a $250,000 fine.

He'll be sentenced on February 25, 2021.

The arrest of Stradford came on February 26 of 2020 after Neptune City Police responded to a home of a woman who reported trespassers were on her apartment patio.

Police then found Stradford and another man at the scene and said they ordered them to stop but Stradford kept on going before officers were able to catch up to him where they not only found a Hi-Point 9mm caliber pistol but also marijuana and pills.

The serial number had been wiped off of the pistol.

The government is represented by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Matthews of the Criminal Division in Trenton.

Defense counsel: Mark G. Davis, Esq., Trenton, New Jersey.
