Multiple gas stations robbed in Burlington County
WESTAMPTON — A pair of gas stations were robbed over the weekend with a third attempt foiled after an employee locked himself in the convenience store, police said.
Police were called to the Gulf Gas Station on Burlington-Mt. Holly Road on Saturday night for an armed robbery. The victim told police two men wearing black clothes and hoods covering their faces held a gun to his chest and demanded money. After he gave them money the suspects then fled on foot toward Eastampton.
Working with the Eastampton and Mount Holly police departments, a perimeter was established and a K-9 unit was called in to search the area for the suspects with nothing found.
On Sunday morning a robbery was reported at the Valero Gas Station, also located on Burlington-Mt. Holly Road. The attendant told police he was robbed in the convenience store by a black male, a white male, and a black female who were all dressed in dark clothing. They reportedly left the scene on foot. A search was conducted with help from the Burlington Police Department, as well as a K-9 Unit from Medford.
During the investigation police got a report of an attempted robbery at the BP Gas Station on Route 541. The attendant said people matching the same description wearing masks approached but were kept out when he locked himself in the store.
The robberies are being investigated by Det. Austin of the department's Criminal Intelligence/Detective Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to call 609-267-3000 ext. 145.
