FREEHOLD - The motorcyclist who lost his life in a crash on Route 33 in Neptune Township Tuesday night is identified as Michael Miller, 54, of Tinton Falls. The crash remains under investigation, no charges have been filed in connection with it, and investigators hope that witnesses can help them piece together the circumstances.

Detectives determined that Miller, astrride a 1986 Suzuki, was negotiating a turn onto the northbound side of the highway, and was hit near the West Bangs Avenue intersection at about 8:58 PM by a 2012 Ford Escape, driven by Jose Pastrama, 52, of Neptune City.

The impact reportedly threw Miller from the bike. He was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township, and was pronounced dead at 9:59 PM, an hour after the crash.

Authorities issued no details about road and traffic conditions, lighting, possible distractions, or whether a field sobriety test was administered.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, county Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) and Neptune Township police continue the investigation.
