A mid February storm will make travel on Jersey Shore roads a challenge throughout the day today in many spots.

We will have a mix of winter weather throughout the day today at the Jersey Shore and you can expect some changing conditions throughout the day. Here's how our Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow says it should play out.

We start with morning snow that should affect the area. The snow will change over to a mix of sleet and freezing rain between about 8:00am and 12 noon. It will change to all rain by this afternoon.

But we are expecting anywhere from a coating to 2 inches of accumulation, and as if that's not enough, there is also a chance of a glaze of light ice, which could really make travel dangerous during the day today.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Monmouth & Ocean Counties until 6:00pm today.

We should get up to the low 40's today, and then Dan says the temperatures will stay above the freezing mark for the rest of the week, and might even reach the mid 50's by Friday.

So here we go again, the roller coaster that is the Jersey Shore weather is giving us a little bit of everything. And what we get today is some dangerous driving conditions, so be careful, and be ready for it.

There is also a lot of school info to stay up to date on, so get the latest with the free Point App for delayed openings and closings.
