During the Covid-19 Coronavirus Pandemic nearly 80,000 Monmouth County residents have filed for Unemployment and as thousands of jobs open back up, the Freeholders have launched a website with a free online career training course to help sharpen skill sets and resumes for the new workforce.

The 'Skill Up Monmouth' program is website based and offers thousand of career training courses at no charge to residents.

Monmouth County Freeholder Patrick Impreveduto, the liaison to the Division of Workforce Development, explains that this program provides residents the road map to a return to work.

"The economy is changing rapidly and these people who have been out of work are going to need to learn these new skills or improve on their already existing abilities," Impreveduto tells Townsquare Media News.

The courses are open to residents of all ages.

You start by creating a profile where you can keep track of all the different courses you sign-up for and then you take a pre-test and the website directs you from there.

"The courses go from resume building to interview techniques to working on your Excel skills to global brand management and there's hundreds of industry certifications available," Impreveduto said.

The course also includes a pre-test and a post-test to see where you're at and then asses where you are afterwards.

"This is just an added benefit to the residents of Monmouth County," Impreveduto said.

When you've completed the course, the Division of Workforce Development will help you find a new or better job.

"We match up employees with employers and we have counselors that can help with the resume writing," Impreveduto said. "There's a variety of disciplines to help the residents find work."

There's plenty of jobs available right now Impreveduto explains so make sure you sign up for the courses to be the best candidate you can be in applying for them.

"Workforce Development has thousands of jobs available for Monmouth County residents as we speak," Impreveduto said.
