What do food trucks, fire pits and softball have in common?  Actually nothing but they are the subjects of today’s segment.

First, congratulations to Donovan Catholic softball coach Debbie Schwartz who on Monday collected her 700th career win which puts her in rather exclusive company.

Schwartz is just the fifth coach in New Jersey history to reach that milestone and she is the first woman to join the 700-club.  Schwartz spent her first 25 years coaching at Toms River East and for the last 8 has helped the Griffins become a powerhouse as they are the two-time defending Tournament of Champions winners who have won their last 38 games.  Currently they are 20-0 and ranked #1 in New Jersey.

With her 701 victories Schwartz is 42 behind Shore Conference career leader Tom Erbig of Middletown South, who retired in 2016.  South Plainfield’s Don Panzarella, in his 41st year, is the winningest coach in New Jersey with 801 career victories and still going strong.

The Toms River High School East Safety Team & Military Club will hold their inaugural “Food Trucks and Fire Pits” tomorrow night from 6-9 in front of the high school on Raider Way.  In addition to fire pits and a half-dozen very different food trucks there will be emergency equipment on display and the New Jersey Army National Guard will have a baseball sport inflatable and arcade punching machine.

Plenty of fun for all ages and there is no admission but donations are being accepted to help build a ropes course on the school campus
