MetLife Stadium’s famous black cat still on the loose

EAST RUTHERFORD — The cat that ran onto the field at MetLife Stadium during Monday night's Giants-Cowboys game has not yet been captured.

The cat ran onto the field during a Giants drive in the second quarter and forced a delay the game for a few minutes while stadium workers and State Police troopers on duty at the game herded the feline toward the end zone, away from the players.

The cat ran off down a tunnel and the game resumed, and the Giants went on to lose, 37-18.

Fox Sports: NFL tweeted that  the cat was the game's top performer of the first half and nicknamed him "Mr. Cuddles."

MetLife Stadium said its staff looked "long and hard" for the cat, and set several humane traps around the stadium. The no-kill shelter PuppyKittyNYCity is also helping with the search.

"We have traps set so paws crossed we can get this little guy," the group wrote on its Facebook page.

The stadium disputed a New York Post report report quoting stadium employee who said he is nicknamed the "Cat Man," and who said he takes care of seven or eight colonies of more than 300 feral cats living in the complex.

"From time to time we have seen cats on the complex and the Meadowlands Racetrack has a trap, neuter and release program in place and currently feeds approximately 30 barn cats," the stadium said in its statement.

Earlier the stadium said it would take the cat to a veterinarian once it was captured.
