Two Mercer County residents found themselves in trouble on the other side of the state after police in Manchester found them with heroin at a traffic stop on Route 517 near Commonwealth Boulevard.

It was members of the Narcotics Enforcement Team who stopped the vehicle in the Circle K parking lot for a motor vehicle violation.

Police officers searched the vehicle and the two occupants and found about 430 bags of heroin, a quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and over $1,100 in cash.

The heroin recovered has an approximate street value of over $3,000.

The driver, 25 year old Jymeir Johnson of Trenton was charged with one count each of Conspiracy to Possess and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin, Failure to Surrender a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), and Loitering to Distribute CDS.

The passenger, 25 year old James Edwards was charged with one count each of Possession and Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Surrender a CDS, and Loitering to Distribute CDS.

Johnson and Edwards were released on summonses for the criminal charges and Edwards was released on his own recognizances for an unrelated outstanding warrant out of Trenton.

The $1,100 that was recovered as well as the 2005 Volvo S40 that was driven were seized pending forfeiture.
