A Manalapan man is facing several charges after allegedly displaying a firearm when police arrived for a welfare check.

18-year old David F. Resende was arrested on August 28 around 10:00 pm after a brief physical altercation with the responding officer at the Stratford Drive residence.

Resende was transported to the Manalapan Township Police Department where he was processed and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Defaced Firearm and Resisting Arrest.

He was then brought to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a hearing.
