Brian Mark Schremmer, 29, a borough resident, allegedly broke into an occupied house, according to information given to officers by the victims, which appeared on Patch.com that was replicated on the Ocean County Prosecutor's Facebook page.

Informed that Schremmer was seen running toward Lavallette Avenue, officers who responded to a 911 report cornered him at a bulkhead, at which point he leaped into the bay, reports said. One patrolman reportedly was injured.

Schremmer was placed in the Ocean County Jail, reportedly charged with burglary, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on an officer, and throwing bodily fluids at a corrections officer.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
