A Grand Jury has indicted a Lakewood man in connection to charges of leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident and causing a death while driving with a suspended license, announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

On November 25, 2018, around 7:00 am Lakewood Police responded to the area of West County Line Road and Cedar Road to investigate a two vehicle accident involving a fatality.

Upon arrival, they found that a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban had crashed into a tree and that the driver was critically injured with the passenger being pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation determined that the other vehicle involved in the accident, a 2018 Nissan Sentra, had fled the scene.

Police traced the car to a residence in Lakewood.

At the residence, they encountered Mashon Wilson, 29, of Lakewood and two other individuals, Shana Lee, 49, and Iyanna Hall, 30, both of Lakewood.

Lee and Hall told police officers that it was Lee who operated the Nissan in question, and that she in fact left the scene of the accident.

Police investigated those claims and they learned that Wilson was the actual driver of the vehicle, and that Lee and Hall had given false statements to the police which hindered the investigation of the fatal accident.

Lee and Hall were charged in the same Indictment as Wilson for Hindering his Apprehension and Prosecution in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3a(7).
