Monmouth County Acting Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Thursday that Sciaire N. Jackson, 28, of Lakewood has been sentenced to eight-years in state prison for the August 18, 2020 shooting on Boston Avenue in Asbury Park.

Jackson's sentence is subject to the provisions of NERA, the “No Early Release Act,” meaning he has to serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed before becoming eligible for parole.

He previously pleaded guilty to second degree Aggravated Assault and second degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

It's not known who his exact targets were, but we know it wasn't the little girl.

Nearly a year ago next week, that child was shot in the upper thigh area, breaking her femur bone.

Acting Prosecutor Linskey said that "physicians treating the child at the time deemed the injury as serious, but non-life threatening."

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police investigated the shooting and learned that Jackson rode up on a bicycle and began firing a handgun at several people located outside of an apartment.

The 4-year old girl was simply playing outside enjoying life.

As Jackson fired, someone fired back at him in return fire, but to this day, "that person, however, has not has not yet been identified."

The case was prosecuted by Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Lawrence H. Nelsen, III.

Jackson is represented by Robert C. Wolf Esq., of Westmont.
