Lakewood man charged after taking infant child from its Toms River home
A Lakewood man faces several charges following his Sunday arrest for taking his newborn child away from their mother.
Toms River Police spokeswoman Jillian Messina tells Townsquare Media News that officers received a call on Sunday from a woman who lived at the Hampton Gardens Apartments on James Street who said the child's father, Rizjoun H. Smullen, 19, took their newborn child.
The baby was found safely in Brick with a family member of Smullen.
Lakewood Police then found Smullen and detained him on scene.
He was transported to the Toms River Municipal Jail without incident.
Smullen has been charged with Domestic Violence, Criminal Mischief, Harassment and Possess of Marijuana.
