Wow! This Gorgeous Hidden Oasis is a Short Drive From Ocean County
This gorgeous hidden gem may fool you into thinking it's somewhere far away and tropical, but it's actually right here in New Jersey.
I was scrolling through TikTok because that's what I do in my spare time when I came across a video of this gorgeous waterfall that I was shocked to find out is just about an hour and a half to two-hour drive away from Ocean County!

Of course, I had to do my research on this one, because it's pretty "dam" cool. Lake Solitude Dam (see what I did there) is located in North Jersey in a town called High Bridge. According to Visit NJ, it was built in 1858 (whoa), is free to visit, and allows fishing. But to be honest, you know I'm going to get some pictures for Instagram because that's what I do best.
While I was researching this glorious oasis, I came across an article from NJ.com that rightly called visitors out for trashing the place after seeing the TikTok. I think Ocean County knows better than this because we want our beaches treated with respect, but of course: if you visit Lake Solitude Dam, please keep it clean and be mindful of the people who live around there.
And if you do go, please take pics and let me know how it was!
