The words fraud and identity theft seem to be in the news every day lately, and security breaches seem to be happening at an alarming rate.

So, just how vulnerable is the Garden State when it comes to comes to these dreaded things? As it turns out, it's not as bad as you might fear. We're literally in the middle of the pack.

According to, New Jersey ranks 25th most vulnerable state in the U.S.A. They looked at things like the number of identity theft complaints and amount of money lost, among other factors, to come up with their rankings.

California was ranked most vulnerable in the country, and among states in our area with the highest rankings, new York was #9 and Connecticut was #10. The least vulnerable state is Iowa.
