This past year we have had to go through something many may have thought would never have been possible in these days and times, a pandemic! For the past year, the Coronavirus Pandemic has caused much heartache. Both from a medical perspective and a financial perspective. So many residents have had to deal with illness, death, and struggling finances.

All of these conditions have made it very hard to remember to simply "have fun". No matter how difficult things are, you have to separate yourself from it and simply take some time to "have fun" and to NOT feel guilty by doing so. I think it is so important to take time each day to "have fun" and I'll admit I often find myself forgetting to do just that and letting today's stress get to me.

I think very often people may disapprove when someone wants to "have fun" and unwind. Yes, you have to use common sense and if you do, enjoying life should not be looked down upon because we are in the midst of a pandemic. Without taking some time to "have fun" we are setting ourselves up for many issues, including mental health issues and physical health. Stress is NOT good for us.

If you are a parent you owe it to your children to take their minds off what's been going on and make some fun for them. I think you will all admit it's nice to smile, isn't it? Does anyone remember laughter?

Here are a couple of suggestions I have for you to "have fun"

  • Go for a walk, hike .... outdoors with fresh air and sunshine and exercise
  • Plan a family movie night complete with pillows, blankets, and snacks! No counting calories lol
  • Plan a picnic, good food, fresh air, and sunshine
  • Go Shopping! Yes, treat yourself :)
  • Go Out to Dinner, When was the last time you did?

REMEMBER IT'S OK TO HAVE FUN!

The land encompassing them was either purchased or donated, though much of it had been inhabited by native people for thousands of years before the founding of the United States. These areas are protected and revered as educational resources about the natural world, and as spaces for exploration.
