FRANKIE VALLI is 84 today. Did you know that he was not an overnight success. In fact, the Jersey Boy took 10 years to have his first Top Ten hit. His first taste of chart success came in 1956 with the Four Lovers who had a minor hit with a song called "You're the Apple of My Eye." Named for a New Jersey bowling alley, the Four Seasons finally launched him into the spotlight with an amazing string of hits beginning with "Sherry" in 1962. After a career lull in the late 1960s, Valli came back strong in the middle 1970s with another string of hits such as "Who Loves You," "December 1963," "My Eyes Adored You," and the platinum single "Grease." I, Bob O'Brien, had the memorable honor of introducing him on stage while working for a radio station in Southern California, and got this treasured photo below. Happy 84th Frankie. Here's to many more. New Jersey couldn't be more proud of you.
